Section 6 of 6 Business case
How to decide
Use ArgusLogs when you need production truth without buying an observability programme or freezing the product to rewrite it. The library is free; you just need a license.
ArgusLogs is the right call if
- You run .NET in production and cannot see enough of the real path today.
- Logging is inconsistent because people, not the platform, are responsible for every line.
- APM ingest pricing, or a multi-month rewrite, would stall the business.
- The valuable code is older, mixed, and too risky to restack just to add logs.
What to do next
- Ask engineering to run the developer Performance benchmarks tab — overhead is already measured versus Serilog and ILogger.
- Pilot [LogMethod] on one messy, high-revenue assembly. Do not start with a rewrite.
- Generate a free license and compare one avoided incident weekend to the APM quote you already have.
